FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Why Choose Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model that prioritizes easier access to your doctor, longer appointments, and affordable care. Most importantly, it puts patients first, ensuring they receive treatment when needed. With DPC, appointments are never rushed, and doctors take a proactive approach to healthcare. The relationship between doctor and patient is truly direct, just as the name implies.

We also take pride in our price transparency—you’ll always know the cost of a service before it’s performed.

Does Radiant Health Accept Health Insurance?

No—and that’s a good thing.

By not dealing with insurance billing, we avoid the restrictions and rules that come with it. This lets us spend more time with patients and keep wait times to a minimum.

We forgo insurance payments to protect our patients from the arbitrary, intrusive decisions that often come with third-party payers.

Additionally, we save patients money by negotiating lower prices for tests and offering medications from our in-house pharmacy at deeply discounted prices—without the steep markups

As a patient of Radiant Health DPC, should I cancel my health insurance?

No, you shouldn’t!

It’s important to keep insurance for specialists and in case of catastrophic events like cancer, severe infections, or other major illnesses. We advise our patients to maintain a major medical plan for financial protection in case hospitalization or specialist referrals are needed.

If I already have insurance, why do I need to pay a monthly fee for a DPC membership?

Your Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership is not insurance—it’s a subscription that gives you unlimited access to your doctor. With your membership, you get longer visits, same- or next-business-day appointments, personalized care, and no copays or billing headaches. You also receive discounted rates on labs, medications, and imaging. While you can still use insurance for these services, many patients find the cash-based DPC option more convenient and cost-effective for everyday primary care.

What if I don’t have insurance—can I still use DPC?

Yes! A DPC membership gives you affordable, high-quality primary care, even without traditional insurance. Many patients pair DPC with health share programs, which help cover larger medical bills like hospital stays, surgeries, or emergencies that DPC doesn’t cover.

Why health shares can work well with DPC:

– They help cover major medical expenses.
– They are often more affordable than traditional insurance.
– Routine care and chronic condition management are handled through your DPC membership.

– They give flexibility in choosing doctors and hospitals.

– They provide peace of mind for unexpected medical costs.

Important note: Health shares aren’t always the best choice for patients with chronic conditions because:

– Pre-existing conditions may not be covered.
– You may need to reach a monthly or yearly “sharing” amount before coverage starts.
– Some medications, treatments, or specialist visits may have limits.

Some health share options include:

– Sedera Health Share – DPC members get a special discount.
– Medi-Share
– Liberty HealthShare
– Christian Healthcare Ministries

Pairing DPC with a health share gives you everyday care plus protection for larger medical bills, even if you don’t have insurance.

What If I decide to Cancel My Membership?

We offer a seamless cancellation process with no fees—simply provide a 30-day written notice. If you choose to re-enroll in the future, a re-enrollment fee of $150 will apply.

Is Direct Primary Care the same as concierge medicine?

They are similar, but not the same. Here’s a comparison:

DPC Practices:

  • Patients (or sometimes employers) pay a monthly membership fee
  • Fees cover extended visits, labs, consultative services, care coordination, and comprehensive care management
  • Do not accept insurance or government programs, relying solely on patient fees

Concierge Practices:

  • Charge higher membership fees, paid annually or monthly
  • Fees typically cover an in-depth physical exam and screenings
  • May still accept insurance and government programs, billing insurance for covered services
  • Often cater to higher-income patients

Can I use HSA funds to pay for my Radiant Health DPC membership? What about FSA funds?
What happens if I need to go to the hospital or see a specialist?

By offering exceptional care and unprecedented access, we aim to prevent or minimize hospitalizations and specialty referrals. If such care becomes necessary, we will work closely with your hospitalist during your hospital stay and coordinate with any specialists involved. Depending on the level of care and expertise required, we may collaborate with these specialized caregivers to manage your treatment effectively.

Can children join Radiant Health DPC?

What if I need medical attention while I'm away from home?

Of course, we provide this care—one of the many benefits of our independence from third-party payment restrictions. Because we know you well, we can streamline your care even when you’re away from home. Many illnesses can be diagnosed and treated through a phone call, email, text, or webcam. Just let us know the nearest pharmacy, and we can prescribe the most appropriate medications for your situation.

Are my medical records ever shared with insurance carriers or pharmaceutical companies?

We uphold strict privacy standards. Since we are not contracted with any third parties, we are never required to share your records unless you specifically request it.
